How it Works

Sealed Compartments: High-voltage components are housed in sealed tanks filled with an insulating gas, usually Sulfur Hexafluoride (SF6).

Superior Insulation: SF6 has exceptional dielectric strength, allowing components to be much closer than in air-insulated systems, drastically reducing size.

Arc Interruption: Its high electron affinity quickly quenches electrical arcs during switching operations.
